Installing our frost-free standpipes is as simple as installing any other standpipe.

| 1. Select a location (an existing water pipe under pressure and below the frost line.) In our example we are installing a standpipe over a drinking trough. | ![]() |
2. Turn off water supply to your premises (or isolator to the location).

3. Dig a hole about 2 feet in diameter to expose the water pipe all round.

4. Insert the standpipe into the hole and connect to water line using the necessary pipe fittings required for your installation. |

5. Turn water supply back on and test for leaks. Tighten fittings if necessary.

6. Put about 2 feet of crushed stone or gravel in to bottom of hole then back fill the remaining hole with earth.

7. To operate the tap lift the handle up and wait a few seconds for the water to run up the pipe and out of the head. It is recommended that you run the tap for a short period of time to wash through the small residue of lubricants left from the manufacturing process. |

Special Instructions
The Brass Packing Nut located on the head of the Frost-Proof Standpipe has been factory adjusted. If leakage should occur upon installation or after usage, it may be necessary to slightly tighten the Brass Packing Nut.
CAUTION Do not over tighten Brass Packing Nut. Damage will occur to inner 0 rings. Do not leave hose attached in freezing temperature as it may prevent proper drainage of the riser pipe via shut-off valve drain hole.
